Work Smarter, Work Safer: Foundational Ergonomics Workshop
Course Description
This workshop is intended to provide an ergonomics team, safety professionals and/or ergonomic champions with the knowledge and skills they need to begin performing ergonomic risk assessments and develop their ergonomic process. This course will cover the following topics: foundations of ergonomics, ergonomic hazard identification, basic ergonomic risk assessment and solution development. Resources, including checklists, will be provided to help the growing ergonomics program/process in their development. This workshop consists of lectures as well as hands-on activities. At the end of this course, the participant will receive a certificate of completion, course notes, and other resources discussed in the course. A certificate of completion will also be presented to all participants who pass a cumulative exam.
This course is intended to teach the participant core ergonomic skills.
By the end of this three-day training, the participant should:

Understand basic ergonomic principles

Have a foundational knowledge of the human body and its capabilities

Identify common hazards and simple solutions for ergonomic injury prevention

Recognize what data to collect for a risk assessment and how to write a report

Understand how to use several evaluation tools for various risk assessment

Understand how to apply basic ergonomic concepts into different business models
-
Be aware of resources that can assist with different ergonomic topics
**Completion of this course does not qualify the participant as a Certified Professional Ergonomist.

Date & Time: April 12-14, 2023. 8AM- 5PM.
This workshop will consist of three consecutive eight-hour sessions. Laptops are recommended, but not required, as training materials will be provided. The participants will receive a binder of course notes and a workbook containing assessment tools, resources, forms, and practice problems.

Owen Janisse received his B.H.K in Kinesiology – Movement Science, from the University of Windsor (2020) and is a graduate of the Fanshawe College Advanced Ergonomics Studies Program (2021). Owen is certified as an Associate Ergonomist in both Canada (AE – CCCPE) and the United States (AEP – BCPE). He has supported projects for a variety of clients and has an extensive background in manufacturing ergonomics. Owen has assisted in establishing and developing ergonomics programs; helping them to meet their targets by conducting risk assessments, facilitating ergonomic standards, delivering ergonomics training, and implementing practical solutions to improve workplace ergonomics.
Cancellation and Transfer Policy
Tuition is refundable less $50.00 if canceled 14 days before the workshop date. Tuition is not refundable under any circumstance, for registrations or cancellations after the 14 days has expired. However, you may have someone attend in your place or attend at another date. You may only change workshop dates up to two times, then tuition will be forfeited.
