Work Smarter, Work Safer: Foundational Ergonomics Workshop

Course Description

This workshop is intended to provide an ergonomics team, safety professionals and/or ergonomic champions with the knowledge and skills they need to begin performing ergonomic risk assessments and develop their ergonomic process. This course will cover the following topics: foundations of ergonomics, ergonomic hazard identification, basic ergonomic risk assessment and solution development. Resources, including checklists, will be provided to help the growing ergonomics program/process in their development. This workshop consists of lectures as well as hands-on activities. At the end of this course, the participant will receive a certificate of completion, course notes, and other resources discussed in the course.  

This course is intended to teach the participant core ergonomic skills.  

By the end of this three-day training, the participant should:

  • Understand basic ergonomic principles

  • Have a foundational knowledge of the human body and its capabilities

  • Identify common hazards and simple solutions for ergonomic injury prevention

  • Recognize what data to collect for a risk assessment and how to write a report

  • Understand how to use several evaluation tools for various risk assessment

  • Understand how to apply basic ergonomic concepts into different business models

  • Be aware of resources that can assist with different ergonomic topics

 **Completion of this course does not qualify the participant as a Certified Professional Ergonomist.

Date & Time: Nov 1-3, 2022. 9AM- 5PM.

This workshop will consist of three consecutive eight-hour sessions with an hour break for lunch. Laptops are recommended, but not required, as training materials will be provided. The participants will receive a binder of course notes and a workbook containing assessment tools, resources, forms, and practice problems. An electronic version of assessment tools, resources and forms will also be provided. Participants with a passing score on the cumulative quiz will receive a LinkedIn endorsement for Basic Risk Assessment and certification of completion.

Hannah Brinza, M.S. AEP

Hannah Brinza received her B.S. in Exercise Science – Athletic Training, from Grand Valley State University (2011) and her M.S. in Exercise Physiology (2017) from the University of Louisville. She is a BCPE certified Associate Ergonomics Professional (AEP) and has been practicing ergonomics since 2017. Hannah has supported numerous industrial and office ergonomic programs with new product design, ergonomics process tasks, team training, as well as development and integration of ergonomics teams within businesses. Hannah has experience in training ergonomic topics ranging from basic skills, such as risk assessments, to advanced skills, such as working with digital human models. In addition to her work in the classroom setting, Hannah has had the opportunity to train and mentor new ergo champions and ergonomists alike. Hannah is also heavily involved in the ergonomic research world and has co-authored dozens of ergonomic documents including client standards, trainings and whitepapers in her career.

Cancellation and Transfer Policy

Tuition is refundable less $50.00 if canceled 14 days before the workshop date. Tuition is not refundable under any circumstance, for registrations or cancellations after the 14 days has expired. However, you may have someone attend in your place or attend at another date. You may only change workshop dates up to two times, then tuition will be forfeited.
